The George Hull Centre for Children and Families offers a full spectrum of children’s mental health services to children from birth to age 18 and their families. The Centre is a non-profit charitable organization, governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors and accredited by Children’s Mental Health Ontario. There is no fee for service.
The staff come from many disciplines: psychiatry, psychology, social work, early childhood education, speech and language, child and youth work, and education. They work together on multidisciplined teams to provide assessment, treatment and consultation to the child, family and community.
The George Hull Centre for Children and Families has a formal affiliation with the Department of Health Sciences, University of Toronto and as such is a teaching centre for students in the disciplines of medicine, psychiatry, psychology, social work and speech & language. Students in child & youth work, early childhood education and nursing are accepted from many community colleges. The Centre has an active research department to provide ongoing investigation and study of children and families.
The Centre is internationally known for its work with families, attracting advanced practitioners from around the world. The Family Therapy Training Program trains professionals working in the field of children’s mental health from across the province and the country in family therapy. The training program faculty has consulted and taught throughout the province.
